Celebrate success

This is much more than putting a mark/grade on a piece of work.

Celebration events are a central tool to recognise what learners have achieved. The aims of the programmes undertaken were to engage and motivate young people through an innovative and dynamic approach highlighting the achievements and raising aspirations of young people. In Leeds this involved a high profile celebration event at the end of the programme.

Young people recorded their learning and built portfolios of evidence whilst participating in activities, working towards a final presentation to their peers and tutors, an informal but ‘celebratory’ event, usually with invited guests who have in some way contributed to the project. Students were presented with certificates and rewards for their participation, where possible photographs are taken for future displays and articles may appear in the local press.
