A Sporting Chance project partners in Leeds
The partnership in Leeds is formed by Leeds College of Technology, Learning through
Leeds and The Leeds Rhinos. The local project manager works at Education Leeds, which
is a non-profit company owned by Leeds city council, responsible for providing
education support services.
Leeds College of Technology is a general furter education college with its main campus in the centre
of the city of Leeds. The college operates within a culturally diverse area, with almost half of its
students from areas classified as economically deprived. The college has about 5000 students, one quarter
being full time students, and 200 staff members.
The Learning through Leeds project has set up learning centres supported by the government and local education
authorities. It is supporting the Sporting Chance project as a source of inspiration and knowledge base.
Leeds Rhinos is a well-known name in the world of Rugby League, since the club was one of the founder clubs
in 1895. The team plays in the national top division - Tetley's Super League. Rhinos share the grounds Headingley
with the Leeds Tykes who are playing Rugby Union and next door is the cricket field of the Yorkshire County
Cricket Club.
